Championship Action at Vicarage Road in a 12:15 kick off. The game will see current league leaders Watford host mid tabled Sheffield Wednesday. Although the visitors have nothing at all to play for (top 10 finish at most), Watford have a great deal to play for, they can be crowned champions with a victory tomorrow in-front of their home fans and seal promotion to the premier league in style by lifting the cup!
All the Watford players, staff and fans will be highly motivated for the game with this in mind. Also, I think Watford can play their usual attractive football with the fact that even if they lost 10-0 they will still be playing Premiership football next season, there will be no pressure on the players and this will allow them to enjoy the game and put in a solid performance!
Watford head into the final game of the season in great form, having won their last 5 games (4 of which have been by 2 goals). Manager Jokanovic has been a sensation and I’ve no doubt he will want to lead them to the title, there is also a rumour that he may be close to agreeing a new deal with Watford! I think that Jokanovic owes a lot to his skipper, Troy Deeney, he’s been a revelation this season and has contributed 21 goals to Watford’s 90 goals scored this season! Only Bournemouth have scored more (95)! No major injury concerns for Watford and the gaffer has a few starting XI dilemmas.
Sheffield Wednesday on the other hand, they’ve had a very inconsistent season! Manager Stuart Gray has guided the Owls to mid-table and has not been close to the relegation zone, which some of the Wednesday fans will see this as a good thing, however, Wednesday have a select number of fans that will have expected more since they were taken over by billionaire owners! Sheff Wed head into the game having not won in their last 2 outings, their away form has been good this season though and they have managed to get 33 points from 22 away games, they’ve lost 7 games away from home all season, which isn’t too bad considering their league position! Again, no new injury concerns for Gray.
For me, I just think that Watford will have too much for Wednesday and think that the motivation of winning the title will be too strong for Wednesday, especially in-front of their home fans!! I’ll be backing Watford – 1.5 AH @ 2.09 with PinnacleSports.
