LOUIS Ross’ (@KingLouis2105) outright Masters selections have made a dream start in Augusta. But our golfing expert returns to share his favourite in-play tips for the final two days play.

US Masters In-Play | 11th-12th April 2015 | Sky Sports 4

We’re halfway into the 2015 US Masters now and first, an update on our tips. Jordan Speith, the outright pick is going quite nicely. Paul Casey the Top 10 choice is in a healthy tied-third and Jonas Blixt in 18th still has a good chance of the Top 20. The each-way tip Jimmy Walker hurt his wrist on Day 1 but is not totally out of things just yet.

I can’t agree with anyone that thinks this tournament is over. The course is still incredibly soft and that means it is both much easier than normal but also gives a huge advantage to the big hitters.

Young Jordan may be five-shots clear but even a good round could see him shoot 70. No problem you may think, two-under to add to his 64 & 66. Well, there are a number of players out there capable of coming home in 63 or 64. He won’t be 8/15 if he only has a two-shot lead come Sunday.

The main issue with the tournament as it is, is what market to play. As much as I am cautious about Speith’s lead, I don’t actually think he will be caught and there is nothing very attractive in the outright market. Do you want to take on Dustin Johnson at 9/1 from seven-shots back? No thanks.

Betting without Speith, on the other hand, has a few interesting propositions. The hardest thing about this market is forgetting Speith is there. It makes you look at the leaderboard in a slightly different way. Christ, that sounds condescending but I hope you get what I mean…

What we have is The Hoff on nine-under, two clear of DJ, Justin Rose & Paul Casey. I adore Phil Mickleson but he can’t seem to string four good rounds together. He also struggles with back and hip injuries. He’s the emotional play, but it would take a lot of faith to invest in Phil right now.

Dustin Johnson’s second round has got lost a little in all the Speith, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods stories. The guy hit THREE Eagles in one round. Incredible.

I’m still not sure he has the bottle to win a major, as I said last week, but I have to say he is the only one I think is a danger to the leader. I can’t back him at 9/1 from his position, but 7/2 without Speith is a very fair price and is my in-play bet.

There is an each-way market available without Speith too. Betfair are going 1/4 odds the first three and also have Ernie Els at 35/1. Big Ernie has been a joy to watch on the first two days and a little unlucky not to be a couple better than his five-under.

That is a big price for a man striking the ball so well and has putted better than he has done for years.
