What a crazy night of fights! UFC 199: Rockhold vs Bisping II went down last night from Vegas and there were some incredibly memorable moments on an awesome card. Obviously the moment that stands out most was Michael Bisping knocking out Luke Rockhold to become the new UFC middleweight champ. Also up there though, was the Dan Henderson back elbow knockout of Hector Lombard, Beneil Dariush’s KO of James Vick and the opening bout of the card and ultimate fight of the night between Marco Reyes and Dong Hyun Kim. Not to be forgotten, we walked away going 3-1-1 on our bets for a profit of just under 1.5 units. All in all it was a pretty decent night and we look forward to bringing you bets for UFC Ottawa in a couple weeks and all the cards surrounding UFC 200 in about a month.

To open the card, we had 2 units on Dong Hyun Kim to defeat Marco Reyes. We got odds of 1.95 (-105) on our 2 unit bet which was basically where the line closed. What a fight it turned out to be! Both guys teed off for the entire first round landing what seemed like 100 strikes each. We gave round 1 to Reyes, but it was by a slight margin as he absorbed a lot of damage and got rocked, but landed slightly more plus got a knockdown. Round 2 was pretty similar, but again we gave it to Reyes. This time it was because even though he got outstruck slightly, he spent more time on top on the ground and landed more ground strikes. In round 3, Kim was completely exhausted and eventually got clipped by a huge strike from Reyes that sent him to the mat. We lost our 2 unit bet.

We didn’t have to wait long for our second bet of the night as we had 2 units on Kevin Casey to defeat Elvis Mutapcic in the second fight of the night. We got odds of 2.40 (+140) which was slightly better than where it closed around 2.25 (+125). Round 1 was clearly Casey’s. He spent about 4/5 minutes in top position on the ground after landing a takedown and he didn’t do that much with it, but definitely did enough to secure the round. Round 2 had two pretty different halves. The first half was dominated by Casey with a takedown directly into mount where he landed ground and pound for a couple minutes. The second half saw Mutapcic stand up and land a bunch of knees to the body, but the position was fairly neutral and Casey fired some knees and punches back. We had it 20-18 Casey after 2. Round 3 was all Mutapcic. He landed far more strikes, plus ended the round reigning down elbows from mount. We had it 29-28 Casey going to the judges. There was 1 29-28 card each way plus a 28-28 making it a majority draw. Our bet is a push.

Next up, we had Sean Strickland to defeat Tom Breese. The bet was 1 unit at 2.10 (+110) which was better than where it closed around 1.91 (-110). We had it 10-9 Breese after 1 as he was the more active fighter and landed some decent combinations while Strickland mostly walked him down, but didn’t throw much. In round 2, Strickland really started to pick up the volume. It’s not like Breese was a sitting duck, but we felt the pressure and increased volume from Strickland was enough for him to take the round. Round 3 was extremely close, but Strickland stuff a takedown and gorund and pounded to the finish and we felt that was enough to sway the judges in his favour. We had it 29-28 Strickland heading to the judges. Two of 3 judges scored it the same way as us and we profit 1.10 units.

In the second fight of the main card, we had 1 unit on Jessica Andrade to defeat Jessica Penne. We got odds of 2.20 (+120) which was much better than where it closed with Andrade as the favourite at all books. Andrade dominated this fight, backing Penne up several times in the first and teeing off with combinations against the cage. It was more of the same in the second until Andrade eventually forced the ref to step in, taking the TKO victory. We profit 1.20 units on our 1 unit bet.

To kick off the main card we had our free bet of Dustin Poirier to defeat Bobby Green. The bet was 2 units at 1.54 (-185) which was pretty close to where it closed. Dustin Poirier was absolutely dominant from start to finish. He teed off on Green a bunch of times, knocking Green down twice and stunning him several times before eventually capitalizing on a knockdown with enough ground and pound to bring the ref in. We profit 1.08 units on our 2 unit free bet.

That was it for our bets at UFC 199: Rockhold vs Bisping II. We’d call it a success, walking away with a profit and avoiding getting burned on the Lombard loss and the Rockhold loss. Remember to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for all our latest updates!
