UFC 186: Johnson vs Horiguchi goes down this Saturday and we’re here with our first betting tip of the week. This tip will be a 2 team parlay and will be 100% free. As is prone to happening in gambling, especially when betting on MMA, we’re on a bit of a cold streak with 2 straight losing events. If you look at our longer term history either at CapperTek where our record is tracked and verified by a third party or in our betting track record, you’ll see that we do win much more often than we lose so Saturday’s UFC 186: Johnson vs Horiguchi could be a huge bounce back event! If you want access to all our bets (there should be 5 in total), you can sign up via CapperTek and get them for just $9.95. You can also get 30 days for free by following these instructions. Of course you could also try to win MMA Manifesto’s pick ’em contest where we provide 30 days of our bettin tips to each event’s winner.
In the main event, Demetrious Johnson defends his UFC flyweight title against Kyoji Horiguchi in one of the least anticipated pay-per-view main events in years. Johnson is 21-2-1 overall at 28 years old with a Zuffa record of 11-2-1. Against Horiguchi, he will be going for title defense number 6 and has honestly looked a step ahead of every competitor he has faced. Kyoji Horiguchi is 15-1 overall with a 4-0 record inside the Octagon. He is the younger of the two at 24 years old. On paper, it sounds like Horiguchi should be a stiff test for Johnson and that is probably the reason Johnson hasn’t become a 1.05 (-2000) favourite like he probably should be. Johnson will be an astronomical step up for Horiguchi who has yet to face anyone coming off a win inside the Octagon while Horiguchi is a step down for Johnson who has been facing the best of the best in the UFC’s flyweight division. Horiguchi is only ranked 7th overall (sure it’s not always the most accurate rankings system, but in this case it’s pretty good) and Johnson has beat all, but two of the guys ranked ahead of him. This is the rare case where we would bet on a guy with the odds this steep, but at 1.10 (-1000) and with Johnson almost guaranteed a win, we think it’s worthwhile here.
The second leg of our two team parlay is a guy fighting at home in the main event of the undercard. Patrick Cote is on the wrong side of 35, but should still have enough to easily defeat Joe Riggs. Cote is now in his fifth stint in the UFC and has gone 3-2 in his last 5 UFC fights (he was knocked out by Alessio Sakara, but the ref ruled it was illegal strikes that did the damage so he got the win by DQ). The peak of Cote’s career came in 2008 when he made it all the way up the middleweight ladder, losing a title shot to Anderson Silva by TKO. Cote’s opponent, Joe Riggs, is the younger competitor at 32 years of age, but actually is the much more experienced guy with 56 pro fights compared to Cote’s 29. He is also a guy who has been in and out of the UFC and this is his 4th UFC run. Riggs formerly won Bellator’s reality show, Fight Master, but the competition on the show wasn’t particularly tough. We expect Cote to be able to defeat Riggs with relative ease and are actually surprised at the price of 1.51 (-195). Cote is the second leg of our two team parlay making the bet 3 units at 1.66 (-150) at 5Dimes.
That’s it for our UFC 186: Johnson vs Horiguchi free betting tip! We hope you tail all our bets at CapperTek and benefit from our huge bounce back event!
