Udinese made a small surprise by defeated Milan at home last weekend with a 2:1 result. Even though players of Milan had more of the ball possession, home side looked much more concrete during the whole game. All three goals were scored in the second half, with hosts taking the double lead thanks to goals from Pinzi and Agyemang-Badu, while the visitors only reduced via Pazzini near the end of the game.
This was first victory of Udinese after six negative results, where the team had four draws and two defeats, slipping down at the table to 13th position, but still being more than safe regarding the Serie A status, as they have fourteenth points more than relegating worried sides. However, no doubt that this victory have improved things a little in their squad, especially the atmosphere inside the locker room. Midfielder Bruno Fernandes is available after serving suspension and could be in the starting lineup, while central defenders Thomas Heurtaux (23/1) and Molla Wague (9/2) both remain injured. Antonio Di Natale will lead their attack in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Inter, on the other side, comes from a 2:1 victory at home over Roma last weekend. It was also kind of a surprising victory, with the home team taking a lead in 15th minute via Hernanes, while Nainggolan leveled up the score in 63rd minute. Finally, when everyone thought that the match will end up as draw, Iccardi scored the winning goal two minutes before the full time whistle.
Still, it has to be said that the draw would have been much more fairer result, as the players of Roma where nowhere close to outplayed side here and the impressions were shared. Anyhow, Inter is now on a run of four matches with no defeat, as the team still has some small chances of getting the European ticket this season. Currently, they are five points below Sampdoria, which means that a victory here is a must thing for them. Coach Roberto Mancini will have problems picking his defensive lineup, as they can’t count at suspended duo of central defender Andrea Ranocchia (34/2) and Juan Jesus (36/0), while they also miss substitute central back Hugo Campagnaro (12/0). Absent are also right midfielder/back Jonathan (2/0) and left defensive midfielder Dodo (20/0) due injuries.
Open game is expected here since Inter is searching for a victory, while Udinese comes into the match with improved morale and might be playing much more relaxed. Despite everything, Inter has been playing a bit better than Udinese in previous weeks and might be closer to get all three points, but my choice remains with goals here.
