Premiership action today which will see Stoke City host Southampton at the Britannia Stadium in a 15:00 kick off.
This game to me looks set to be a boring one, there isn’t much between the teams and therefore I see them struggling to break each other down. Stoke are generally good on home soil and have only lost games recently to an inform Palace, Champions Manchester City and soon to be Champions Chelsea. So they are often hard to breakdown at home and I can see that being the case again today. Stoke currently sit in 10th in the table and could possibly end the season with a top 10 finish, something I think manager Mark Hughes will be pleased with. Stoke’s last 4 games have seen 3 defeats and 1 draw, they started to let performances slip a little lately, however, against West Ham Hughes seemed to have got his players playing the Stoke way and they defended quite well, I know it took an 95th minute goal to snatch a point but it will be a confidence booster for the players. Team news for Stoke is that Hughes will be without Muniesa and Moses, however, Wilson and Pieters may be risked.
Southampton head into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over Hull City and are pushing for a European place come the end of the season! They find themselves just 5 points away from 4th placed Manchester City, will they get a top 4 finish, I very much doubt it, however, Koeman needs to be getting his players out to go for it at least. Southampton have the best defensive record in the premiership this season and I think that will be the case come the end. They’ve conceded just 22 goals this season! Southampton’s last 10 games have seen under 2.5 goals and this is an indication as to how Koeman has them playing, they rarely concede more than a goal per game and I think this will be the case today, I think they will play a defensive game against Stoke and potentially nick a win by 1-0. Team news for Southampton is that Wanyama and Djuricic are out, also Forster Rodriguez and Mayuka remain absent.
4 of the last 5 games between these two clubs have ended in a draw, today may be another one. If you are feeling risky I think that draw and under 2.5 is priced at 3.75 with William Hill. However, as I’ve been quite unlucky with some predictions of late I’ll be going for under 2.5 goals at 1.62 with BetVictor.
