St Pauli vs RB Leipzig

St Pauli vs RB Leipzig Betting Tips and Match Preview – 03/05/2015

Time is running out for St Pauli!
Time is running out for St Pauli!

St. Pauli were wretched in a 2-1 defeat in Heidenheim on Matchday 30. Ewald Lienen’s side offered little going forward and recent defensive progress was undone by the needless manner of the hosts’ goals.

One ray of hope is St. Pauli’s home form (W6 D3 L6), which has improved in recent weeks. Indeed, Lienen’s troops are unbeaten in four at the Millerntor and come into this one off the back of two wins on home soil, including a morale-boosting victory over Nuremberg on Matchday 29.

RB Leipzig, however, travel north in high spirits after a dramatic late winner from goalkeeper Fabio Coltorti secured a 2-1 victory on home turf against Darmstadt on Matchday 30, propelling Achim Beierlorzer’s side into the promotion reckoning – although they must win here to have keep their slim chance of going up alive.

Leipzig come into this one on a four-game unbeaten run (W3 D1), but it has been a struggle away from home for Leipzig this term (W3 D7 L5). That said, a draw in Kaiserslautern and victory in Bochum in their last two road trips indicate signs of improvement, but St Pauli cannot fail no more as relegation is just around the corner, I think they could beat Leipzig!

St. Pauli coach Ewald Lienen will recall Dennis Daube after the midfielder missed Matchday 30’s 2-1 defeat in Heidenheim through suspension. John Verhoek, however, picked up a fifth yellow card and is banned.
Verhoek’s fellow attacker, Kyoung-Rok Choi, was unable to feature in the south-west due to ankle ligament problems. He joins Christopher Buchtmann, Bernd Nehrig and Florian Kringe as doubtful for this one.
Suspended: Verhoek (one match)
Doubtful: Thorandt, Buchtmann, Nehrig (all fitness), Choi (ankle), Kringe, Kalla (both hip), Nothe (illness)
Injured/unavailable: Budimir (heel), Koch (knee)

RB Leipzig coach Achim Beierlorzer is set to recall Emil Forsberg after suspension kept the attacker out of Matchday 30’s dramatic 2-1 win over Darmstadt. Dominik Kaiser’s fifth yellow of the season in that game rules him out, while Rodnei is a doubt with a thigh problem.
Omer Damari made his comeback from injury off the bench against Darmstadt, with Rani Khedira and Fabian Franke both set to follow suit soon. Fabio Coltorti became the first-ever goalkeeper in Bundesliga history to score the winning goal when he netted in injury-time.
Suspended: Kaiser (one match)
Doubtful: Heidinger (gastroenteritis), Khedira, Franke (training), Rodnei (thigh)
Injured/Unavailable: Boyd (recovery training)
