League One Play Off semi-final action at Bramhall lane in a game that will see 5th placed Sheffield United host 4th placed Swindon in a 19:45 kick off. The hosts Sheffield United may be getting tired of reaching the play offs as this is their 3rd time out of the last 4 seasons!! They’ve come very close before in recent years and for some reason I think this will be their year. Manager Nigel Clough has had a decent season all things considered and will no doubt want to end the season on a high.
Both teams head into this game in poor form, Sheffield United haven’t won in their last 5 games, drawing 4 and losing 1. The last 3 games have ended 1-1, I think this is a potential score line come the end of the game. Swindon also head into the game having not won in 5 games, 3 draws and 2 defeats. Again like Sheff Utd, theor last 2 games have ended in draws. I can see the game ending in a draw, I think at this stage of the season there is so much to play for that not many teams below the Championship like to take too many risks. So I can see this being a low scoring affair as I think as long as both clubs have a chance to win come the 2nd leg they will be happy.
Sheffield United managed Nigel Clough has switched his starting XI around a little in recent weeks and again, I think this will change for tomorrow’s clash. Jamie Murphy was rested against Chesterfield and I’ve no doubt he will return to the starting XI for this game. Murphy is the clubs top scorer this season and I think Clough will hope that he can add to his tally tomorrow. Reed is out injured for the game, likewise is Kennedy and Done.
Swindon manager Mark Cooper has also had a decent season and finished 1 place above Sheff Utd, however, they were 8 points better off. Team news for Swindon is good, manager Cooper only has one injury concern with Toffolo is a doubt. Like Sheffield United, Swindon have also rested a lot of players over the past few games and will no doubt play their best XI.
With both clubs not having a win between them in the last 10 games I think that a draw is likely. As I explained earlier, I think that far too much is at steak and to get to the play off Final at Wembley would be a great day for all involved, no one wants to get this far and miss out. Therefore, I can see a low scoring affair and will be backing Under 2.5 goals @ 1.74 with Pinnacle. If I were pushed for an exact score I’d go for 1-1. Good Luck all.
