Rayo Vallecano couldn’t do much more in the previous game they played last weekend, when the team suffered 0:2 defeat away to Sevilla. They actually had more of the ball possession, but without much of creativity in the midfield, as they were trying more from long distance shots. On the other side, hosts knew what they want and easily got the double lead before the halftime whistle.
Iborra in 16th and Carrico in 43rd minute sealed the victory for the hosts, who lowered the tempo in the second half and somehow, just were waiting for the game to finish. Anyhow, no one actually expected Rayo to come back with points, as the team remains at eleventh position, without much of competitive motives as they are quite far away from relegating placed sides, but also away from European tickets race. Right back Tito returns from suspension and should be re-installed at his position. Central defender Antonio Amaya (17/1) is carrying a knock and remains doubtful, while the home team surely misses forward Leo Baptistao (23/7) and goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez (17/0), both being injured.
Valencia, on the other side, comes from a 4:0 victory over Granada in front of their own fans on Monday evening. Fuego opened the scoreline in 26th minute, while Parejo increased the lead in 39th minute from a penalty kick. Two more goals were scored in the repetition, with Feghouli and Negredo scoring goals in last ten minutes.
It was a fully deserved victory for team of Nuno Espirito Santo, as the team bounced back in positive way after a 2:0 defeat away to Barcelona in previous week. Team is now fifth at the table, having one point less than fourth placed Sevilla, but with this game in hand. This means that the team needs to win this one in order to remain at Champions League position and to increase their chances of staying there in the end of the season. Enzo Perez is in contention to start here after recovering fully, while the visiting side will surely be playing in a 4-3-3 formation with Feghouli, Rodrigo and Alcacer up front.
Rayo Vallecano has generally nothing to play for, but the team always plays much more offensive football in front of their own crowd. Valencia, on the other side, remains favorite here, but the team also has gaps in defense and aren’t to be trusted away from home. Over goals and both teams scoring are my first choices here.
