In Superettan is is now Ostersunds turn to experience their home premier after a good start of the season which is being enlighted with big expectations on last years surprising team Ostersund. The victory over Brommapojkarna was a convincing performance and surely an early statement to all teams who intend to battle with Ostersund for promotion.
The British coach Graham Potter keeps making wonders with this charming club, who might be the most stable club in Superettan at this moment. It began last season when the hidden star striker Modou Barrow made massive success and scored on an incredible spree which saw him be sold to the Premier League side Swansea for approximately €2 million which is overwhelming money for a team like Ostersund. Surely, Barrow was a huge loss in the offense but other than that player loss, the core group is still in the team and overall provides for a very consistent group of players, along with an exceptional staff. The club consist of many foreign influences which is part of their success, since it makes them more international in the way of playing. Midfielder Seon-Min Moon remains a key player for this offense to keep delivering. Winger Michael Omoh shown some good intentions in the previous match also, and newly signed Dragan Kapcevic is a regular goalscorer who can provide many goals with his presence in the penalty area. Ostersund plays a possession based football and are very patient which makes them frustrating to play against. Their style of play is not very suitable for defensive minded teams as it tends to be hard to break, but todays opponents are nothing but defensive oriented at all.
The hosts have no vital injury worries, except from the usual long term injured for striker Emir Smajic and defender Tomas Peciar. So the hosts should be able to field the exact same lineup who beat Brommapojkarna in the first round, something that also the coach Graham Potter confirms. – It could be that we field the same team, absolutely. He says.
Angelholm have gone four straight matches without scorning and also displayed a weak defense which has leaked nine goals in the three most recent matches. The team structure is a big problem and might very well struggle to remain in Superettan this season. They tend to vary their playing system, often playing 4-5-1 or even 5-4-1 which might explain the lack offensively, with only one striker it is difficult to find much threats forward. Last year they were involved in many high scoring contests and it has followed Angelholm into this season as well. They may only have lost with 0-2 in the home opener versus Assyriska, but it could have been more. Currently there are not many positive things to bring forward with Angelholm until they prove the opposite. They might be able to surprise positively on their home ground versus an average team, but they are now about to play the toughest away game of the season in Ostersund, and it can get ugly if they are not putting in a five star defensive performance and take care of every chance they get.
The coach of Angelholm confirmed there will probably be a lot of changes in the lineup compared to the previous game, which shows the desperation of just achieving better results. A team in confidence stick to the same system and gives it several matches until it develops, but Angelholm alter around freely early on, which might be a genius move – but will backfire most of the times. There are no injury concerns for the visitors except regular keeper Oscar Berglund who experience some back problems but will likely start regardless.
It should be a rather big gap in terms of quality difference here over 90 minutes. It is title candidates versus survivors, and that speaks for itself. Ostersund are generally strong and solid on their home turf which is artificial and benefits their passing game. Angelholm have not found the net in the last four matches and probably will struggle here too. Anything but a home win feels unlikely and therefore I like the -1 AH option for Ostersunds with these circumstances in mind, as they will have much of the possession and dominate in terms of scoring chances.
