Milan comes from a bit heavy 3:0 defeat away from home against Napoli last weekend. However, the whole match was determined with a red card given to their player already in first minute when De Sciglio got red carded and committed a four for a penalty kick that was missed couple of moments later by Higuain.
Even though the players of Napoli remained in control of the ball and were better overall, they had to wait till 70th minute to open up the scoreline. Hamsik was the first one to net a goal, while Higuain and Gabbiadini followed him properly within six minutes. It was yet another disappointment for the fans of Milan, who now almost surely stay without European competitions for the next season. Four rounds till the end, they have nine points less than sixth placed Sampdoria and need a huge miracle, while the atmosphere inside the locker room is nowhere near perfect, with the trust between coach and players being totally ruined. Full back De Sciglio (16/0) is now suspended, same as striker Menez (33/16). Also out injured are central defender Adil Rami (21/1), midfielder Michael Essien (13/0), Muntari (16/2), Montolivo (10/0), striker El Shaarawy (15/1).
Roma, on the other side, comes from quite professional 2:0 victory over in-form Genoa last weekend. The team took their three pointer much easier than it was expected, thanks to goal from Doumbia in 35th and Florenzi in third minute of additional time. This way they managed to take advantage of Lazio’s setback in Bergamo and return to the second position.
Four rounds till the end of the season, they are now a point above Lazio and having huge advantage when talking about having the direct ticket to Champions League for the next season. Meanwhile, the team got fined with 6 million euros from UEFA, due breaking the rules of financial fair play, but no doubt that the team won’t be affected with it, since it represents more of a technical problem for them that other parts of the club are dealing with. Coach Garcia has said that the only thing that counts at the moment is to defeat Milan and added that he is not concerned regarding what the players of Lazio will do in their matches. Injured is full back Maicon (14/1), central defender Leandro Castan (1/0) and midfielder Strootman (6/0) – neither of them having important role this season.
Roma will surely be dominating the game here since they do have more quality, while momentum is completely on their side. In case they play anything close to their full potential, this will be another victory of them, easy or hard since Milan is completely out of form in all aspects.
