THE only online bookmaker listing first-scorer prices on all SPFL games are McBookie.com. It’s a great service they provide and we’ve teamed up with the Scots firm to look at some of the best bets from the Scottish lower leagues.

Also, leave a first-scorer prediction for any of the weekend SPFL matches at the end of this article to have a chance to win a £10 free bet with McBookie.com. Remember to quote odds. Last week’s winner was owensjay who picked Morton’s Declan McManus.

Here is McBookie’s Damian Walker’s first-scorer tips for this weekend. He writes: Despite Rangers’ skinny pre-season quotes there were a quite a few dissenting voices who didn’t expect them to run away with the Championship title but I doubt a few of those would have thought they’d still be scraping for second spot come the final round of fixtures.

And to make matters worse for Rangers their must-win final game is at table-topping Hearts who are an incredible 24 points ahead of them.

It is possible a draw would take Rangers into second place and avoid a further play-off tie with Queen of the South but it seems unlikely second-placed Hibs will suffer a five-goal reverse at Falkirk.

With this background Rangers seem incredibly short at 2-1 to win the play-offs. Third place would mean two-legged ties against Queen of the South then Hibs and a likely finale with Premiership Motherwell.

On Saturday lunchtime Hearts will be able to play with the freedom of champions while the stakes are enormous for their visitors who many will have felt were certainties to get back to the Premiership in the shortest possible time.

Hearts should probably be odds on for this game with 15 home wins, one draw and just one defeat compared to Rangers’ nine wins on the road with four draws and the same number of setbacks.

At the time of writing the Jambos can be backed at 6-5 which seems fair and makes a first scorer for them a reasonable proposition too. With Prince Buaben out for the season there are some interesting prices out there for Brad McKay to score at anytime as he took last weekend’s penalty.

But we are going to go for Hearts’ on-loan Dutch striker Genero Zeefuik who has been an instant success since making his debut in January.

Zeefuik has started 13 times and come on as a sub once, yet scored an amazing 10 goals for Hearts. And with the Jambos’ odds against he can be backed at 11-2 with McBookie to grab the game’s opening goal.

In League One the drama is going down to the wire with three clubs capable of clinching the title on the final day of the season.

Stranraer began last weekend as 5-4 title favourites and finished it as 40-1 outsiders after their home defeat to Morton who are now top.

Morton have it in their hands and it will be a big surprise if they fail to beat Peterhead at home.

On-loan striker Declan McManus will have played a huge part in winning the title if the Ton can get over the line and amazingly his 19 goals have come in two spells at the club this season.

It is a far cry from the early weeks of the season when manager Jim Duffy was having to convert centre-backs to forwards because of a lack of firepower up front following injuries and lack of singings.

McManus is 11-4 with McBookie to get Morton on their way with the first goal of the game.

In League Two punters need to tread a little carefully with many teams having nothing to play for so there could be some weakened sides turning out, especially those clubs that might look to rest players for the play-offs to come.

I would be surprised if Gus MacPherson fielded his best 11 for their trip to Clyde on Saturday when the Spiders have a crucial first leg against Arbroath on Wednesday.

This is a great opportunity for Clyde to grab the first goal and they probably should be favourites or at least joint faves for this game not 23-10 outsiders.

The only trouble is goalscorers have been thin on the ground for Clyde this season and it may pay to go for in-form defender David Marsh who has netted in his last two games.

Marsh is 20-1 with McBookie to make it three in three and get us a nice winner for the end of the season!

Can you find a winner?

Recommended Bets

Zeefuik (Hearts) 11-2

McManus (Morton) 11-4

Marsh (Clyde) 20-1
