May 14th, 2015 Betting Tips: NBA Playoffs and MLB

A lot of great games and a lot of interesting outcomes last night. The Rangers are going to the Eastern Conference finals after defeating the Washington Capitols in overtime (because it’s the NHL Playoffs so, of course the game seven went to OT). They’ll face the Lightning and New York is expected to be the favorite. We should have more on that later.

Meanwhile in the NBA, the two number one seeds took one step closer to closing out their series. The Warriors won in dominating fashion that should set them up to close the series up on Friday. The Grizzlies simply don’t have the offensive or defensive answer for when this team is playing at it’s best, but they shouldn’t feel bad because I don’t think anyone else should either. In Atlanta it was looking like Paul Pierce was going to ruin another team’s dreams, but Al Horford came to save the day and steal the win. Despite both series being 3-2, this one feels far from over.

Then if you somehow found the time to watch it all, you also probably saw an amazing pitching performance from the Indians’ Corey Kluber. He managed to strike out 18 batters in eight innings and posted a Game Score of 98, the best for a pitcher going eight innings in the history of the stat. Craziness.

Tonight we have the Cavs looking to close out the Bulls in Chicago, the Rockets trying to stay alive in LA and a ton of MLB action. So enough talk, let’s get to the betting tips!

MLB Betting Tips

Coming off a win last night in Arizona, the Nationals head to San Diego for a game against the Padres. Simple formula here: Nats have the better pitcher going and the better offense. Nationals +121, simple.

I also like the Giants +161 tonight. After a rough start, the World Champions seem to be rounding into form and a big part of that is the rejuvenated Tim Lincecum who leads the team in ERA. He’s allowed 0 earned runs in has past two starts and looks to continue that against a Reds offense that has struggles of it’s own of late.

NBA Playoffs Betting Tips:

The Bulls and Cavs series has been so close over the past few games that it’s easy to just take the points. Lebron James was so locked in during Game 5 that if he played that way every night the Cavs would be undefeated. You have to expect him to get tired and you know Kyrie Irving is hurt, but that hasn’t stopped them the last two games. They just keep doing their thing and the Bulls haven’t been able to capitalize on it. Tonight, however, the Bulls should get Pau Gasol back which hopefully will mean less Joakim Noah for the Bulls and more offense. The lack of Gasol has been the difference in the last two games and his return should revitalize Chicago. Bulls -2 and this one is going back to Cleveland.

The Rockets showed that they had a heart last time, that was nice of them to do for their fans. They are losing tonight, but I can’t recommend the -8.5 line.
