Manchester City still remains in a fight for second or third position, as that place leads directly to Champions League, while fourth leads to qualifications and early preparations and matches in August. In order to obtain one of those places, Manchester City remains in a must win situation against QPR today.
Three matches till the end of the season they have two points more than fourth placed Manchester United, but also a game in hand which means that they would go five points ahead of them with two games remaining. Anyhow, the team comes from a 1:0 victory against Tottenham last weekend away from home, as they took the lead via Sergio Aguero, while their hosts remained in slight control, but without ever scoring. Probably key of their setbacks during the season is that many important players were injured during the season, while it remains unknown if the coach will continue his job after early June. Central defender and one of their leader Kompany (22/0) is remaining injured, same as forward Jovetic (18/1) and midfielder/defensive midfielder Yaya Toure (26/8).
After yesterday’s results, it seems that salvation is quite impossible for QPR. Only in theory the team can remain playing Premier League in next season, as they now stand at the rock bottom position of the team with nine points less than firstly safe placed side Newcaslte, with three rounds remaining in Premiership.
Plans for Championship for next season have already started in the club, as nobody thinks that they can actually avoid relegation somehow, even if they win by miracle all three remaining games. They come from a 2:1 defeat away to Liverpool, as the team fought well on the field and generally stood well in the defense, but couldn’t do more. Now they count eleven defeats in last fifteen matches, while they have won over Citizens for the last time fifteen years ago. Forward Vargas (21/3) is already out for couple of months and will lose the rest of the season. Central defender Dunne (17/0) is also injured, same as midfielder Isla (26/0) and defender Caulker (33/1). Suspended is defender Onuoha (21/0).
No doubt that the Citizens remain favorites here, with QPR probably defending during the match. However, I don’t see many goals scored here, surely not four and more, while the odds represent value in my eyes.
