Two rounds till the end of the season, Liverpool stands at fifth position and have five points more than Southampton, as the Reds can finally secure their European exit with a three pointer here. At the same time, this will be their last game in front of their crowd this season, as everyone expects their victory and finally, much more relaxed performance from their players.
They have only one victory in last four matches, truth to be told, all three matches without three pointer the Reds have played away from home, as the team comes from a 1:1 draw on the road against Chelsea last weekend. Terry brought the Blues into the lead already after five minutes of play, while Gerrard equalized just before the halftime whistle. Reds continue to miss central defender Mamadou Sakho (17/0), forward Daniel Sturridge (14/4) and full back Jon Flanagan (no performance yet in the season), all three due injuries. Striker Mario Balotelli is back and available for selection. Their legend Steven Gerrard is expected to start the game, the one that will be his last home match before he departs for MLS side.
Crystal Palace, on the other side, has four consecutive defeats now, as the team obviously took their remaining of matches much more lightly once they have secured the salvation for this season. However, it has to be said that the team suffered last two defeats against Chelsea and Manchester United, sides that are surely much more quality then them.
Anyhow, the team now stands at 12th position at the table, having eight points more than relegating worried sides, two rounds till the end. Offensive midfielder Jonathan Williams (8/1) is injured and remains only selection worry for coach Alan Pardew. Jason Puncheon will probably start here after impressing in a 1:2 defeat at home against Manchester United last weekend. James McArthur and Mile Jedinak may feature in the midfield as well, as coach Pardew will probably rotate his squad a bit, trying to find some talented players the club can count on in the next season.
With this being the last game for Steven Gerard in front of their fans, I believe Reds will do everything to make a big performance for their captain and get an comfortable victory. Crystal Palace is without any competitive motives, while the team has scored only one goal in last four defeats.
