Wedding Vow represents the powerful Aiden O’Brien stable in this and she looks sure to start a short price favourite. She has yet to win in three races but finished third last time out behind 1000 Guineas winner Legatissimo, which considering what the winner done last week is the best form on offer.
Ballydoyle’s fillies always progress throughout the season, and its unlikely we have seen the besy of Wedding Vow yet. She is the most likely winner of the race but I’m not prepared to back her at odds on so I’m looking for some each way value.
I’m going to take a chance on Supreme Occasion in this. A winner of her first two starts she fell a little short when stepped up in class towards the end of the season.
Looking at her pedigree she is bred to stay this trip, and even though she was dropped in trip (from a mile to 6 furlongs) for her last race of the season I see her future being over middle distances.
Her trainer David O’Meara is rapidly progrssing through the ranks and is more than capable of having her ready to get competitive on her seasonal debut. She won on her debut last season, and in a race lacking real strength and depth I expect her to get competitive at a solid each way price.

ChristopherMarlowe will be another short priced favourite in this Derby trial and he will be looking to book his ticket to Epsom here. He is unbeaten in three races and looks a very progressive colt. He should win this race but his trainer John Gosden admitted he is worried about the ground, and the possibility of a muddling race with a small field I won’t be backing him at 1/2.
Kilimanjaro represents Aiden O’Brien here and you would be surprised if he is viewed as any more than a pace maker in Coolmore’s Derby plans. Two down the field efforts in maidens last year, he won a Dundalk maiden on his third start.
As with all horses from the yard he is bred to be top class and there is every possibility he will make me look silly and have improved since we last seen him but I can’t back him here.
Bartholomew Fair from the Luca Cumani yard will be my selection here. A winner of a Yarmouth maiden on his second start he ended the season at Newmarket where he finished down the field behind Commemorative in a Group 3. He wasn’t beaten all that far and shaped like a stayer.
The extra three furlongs will be in his favour and I fully expect him to improve significantly this season. Luca Cumani’s stable is going really well just now, and he has had a few first time out winners too. Though the favourite looks like he will be hard to beat, I am backing Bartholomew Fair each way as I expect a much improved showing from him this afternoon.
14:20 Lingfield – Supreme Occasion each way (10/1 Bet365)
14:55 Lingfield – Bartholomew Fair each way (13/2 Sportingbet)
