Hajduk Split continues with unrecognizable performances when talking about their home and away results and displays. They excluded Sillame Kalev in the first round and Slovenian side Koper in second, but were in trouble in both matches away from home. Additionally, similar behavior of their players is noted in domestic league as well.
Croatian side lost in the first leg against Koper with a 3:2 result, but bounced back with impressive first halftime where they scored two goals (Kis and Jefferson) and continued in the same manner cruising to a 4:1 victory with goals from Caktas and Maglica. No doubt that the team wants to progress here as well, but surely knowing that they will have hard task in the play-off round, except they get some huge luck during the draw. Situation is terrible for them after three rounds, with Hajduk having only two points till now, drawing against Split and Dinamo, but losing to Istra last weekend away from home 4:1. Coach Buric relies mostly on in-form Caktas (four goals till now), while newly signed striker Ohandza has already scored two goals too. Team’s lineup should be in a 4-2-3-1 formation: Kalinic; Pejic, Milovic, Nizic, Tudor; Caktas, Balic; Roguljic, Vlasic, Jefferson; Ohandza.
Stromsgodset, on the other side, was a bit lucky to progress in the third round as the team had quite difficult opponent in second round – Czech side Mlada Boleslav. Norwegian side took a 2:1 victory in the first leg away from home, in a game where the Czech side actually was better and had more goalscoring opportunities.
On the other side, their second leg has ended as a narrow 1:0 victory for Mlada Boleslav, side that maybe deserved something more out of these qualifying matches. Anyway, Stromsgodset will surely now be looking to get undefeated out of this match, but also to score a goal as Hajduk surely isn’t much more quality side than the Norwegians. The team postponed their matches in Norwegian league since the start of qualifiers, so no doubt that the club is taking it very seriously. They’ve been playing some decent football away from home recently, as the team has four victories in last five matches. Team’s lineup should be in 4-3-3 formation: Pettersen; Hanini, Valsvik, Madsen, Vilsvik; Fossum, Abu, Moen; Wikheim, Sorum, Storflor.
Norwegians will probably be playing here more offensively than expected, while Hajduk remains slight favorite, however with very unpredictable performances in both offense and defense. Goals should be seen, together with both teams scoring.
