Tigre vs Estudiantes La Plata Betting Tips and Match Preview – 13/04/2015
|Low Goals affair seem to be fair!|
Tigre piled on the pressure during the last quarter of their game last weekend, and in truth a two goal margin of defeat away to San Martin was rather harsh on them; San Martin’s third came three minutes into stoppage time from a counter attack following a Tigre corner for which almost everyone had gone forward in search of an equaliser. It was only their second defeat of the year, and they shouldn’t allow it to get them down too much, as San Martin have looked lively in home games already so far. Back on their own turf, Tigre should be more of a challenge here.
They’ll face an Estudiantes side who were able to take more positives than negatives from their draw at home to Racing last weekend. Estudiantes haven’t won in five matches in the league, but were good in the second half particularly, and played their part in a pretty entertaining game against the defending champions. They’re down in mid-table (15th place) thanks to that slump in form, and were in action on Thursday night in the Copa Libertadores, though, so this won’t be an easy trip for them to make.
These sides are separated by only a point, and the difference really has been that Tigre have been tighter at the back – both sides have won three games, but Tigre have three draws and two defeats to Estudiantes’ two draws and three defeats. Estudiantes have had a significantly trickier set of fixtures, though; their three defeats have all come against sides in the top six, whereas Tigre’s three wins have been against teams struggling. Indeed, Tigre have managed just one point against a side in the top twenty, and that was against 19th-placed (at the start of this weekend) Defensa y Justicia.
As such, the league table doesn’t tell the whole story here. Tigre might appear to have the advantage, but I think this could well end up low goals affair.
Tigre’s Lucas Wilchez was a late exclusion through injury from a 3-1 loss away to San Martin last weekend, but should be okay to return for this one.
Doubtful: Erik Godoy (cramp)
Estudiantes’s Carlos Auzqui remains suspended for this match, but Matias Aguirregaray will be allowed to return to the side following 1-1 draw with Racing last time out. On Thursday night, they lost 1-0 at home to Atletico Nacional in the Copa Libertadores.
Suspended: Carlos Auzqui (red cards)
RECOMMENDATION: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
