Championship action at Brighton on a Friday evening which will see 18th placed Brighton host top of the table Bournemouth in a 19:45 kick off. Brighton are heading into the game having lost 1-0 to Rotherham on the weekend. I watched the game and I can honestly say (even though I am a Rotherham United fan) that we outplayed Brighton, they looked poor all over the field and struggled to create many chances against a team who often concede sloppy goals (Rotherham). An 8th minute goal from Matt Derbyshire was enough for Rotherham to take all 3 points.
Brighton have improved recently under Chris Hughton, however, I think they are almost safe and their performances of late have shown this. They are 9 points clear of the drop zone, however, there are 3 teams in-between them and Millwall so the chances of them going down are not great. I think Hughton will do well next season with a full season in charge. They’ve actually won 3, drew 1 and lost 1 of their last 5 home games, so it’s not too bad. However, they head into the game having lost their last 2 games (Rotherham and Norwich).
Bournemouth on the other hand are currently sat in top spot, I personally thought they had blown their chances of automatic promotion after they dropped a few places in recent weeks, however, Eddie Howe has done an amazing job in rallying his team and they now have a great chance of getting another 3 points here. They head into the game on the back of a thrilling 4-2 win at home to Birmingham. What stood out for me was the way in which they fought back, they found themselves 2-0 down after just 21 minutes! They managed to get it back to 2-2 on the stroke of half time, from there on Bournemouth were the only team going to win this game!
Bournemouth also have a better goals difference and this could be key come the end of the season! These are the games that Eddie Howe will be able to rally his team for, these are the game I’m sure he will know his team can win if they perform like they can. I doubt they will get a chance like this again and think they need to take advantage.
For me, I’ll be backing a Bournemouth win, they are currently priced at 1.90 with BetVictor. Good Luck all.
