Even though it’s early in the new season for Hungarian clubs, it can’t be said the same for Debrecen as the team already has six official matches played till now. Hungarians progressed over Montenegrin Sutjeska in the first leg, with a victory in Debreceni with 3:0 result, however the team experienced quite negative performance away from home where they were defeated with a 2:0 score.
Second leg saw them going to Latvian side Skonto where they had a 2:2 draw, but the players of Debrecen demolished their Latvian opponent in the returning leg with a 9:2 score (Ibrahima Sidibe, Tibor Tisza scored twice, Brkovic, Balogh, Szakaly, Bodi and Castellong scored once). It was obvious in both clashes that the team performs much better in home matches, so there is no doubt that the team will try to get a victory here and try to be attacking from the start. Sidibe and Tisza are working just fine in attack and surely the hopes of coach Kondas are relied on them. Debrecen should be playing in a 4-3-3 formation being as offensive as possible, as said already: Verpecz; Korhut, Meszaros, Brkovic, Jovanovic; Bodi, Varga, Szakaly; Balogh, Sidibe, Tisza.
Rosenborg, on the other side, had an easy clash in the second round of Europa League, as the team played against Icelandic KR Reykjavik. They were much better in both games, dominating for all 180 minutes, as they took the 1:0 victory away and sealed the qualification with 3:0 home victory next week.
Goalscorers in second leg were Midtsjo, Helland and Soderlund, all three scored within first eighteen minutes. Apart from Europa League, team is doing more than well in the domestic league, as they look to be red hot favorites to win the title, being six points ahead of second placed Valarenga, having mini run of two consecutive victories. Alexander Soderlund is striker, their man to watch in this game, as he already scored three goals in Europa League, also netting fifteen times in seventeen rounds in Norwegian league. Visitors will also be playing in a 4-3-3 formation: Hansen; Dorsin, Skjelvik, Eyjolfsson, Svensson; Midtsjo, Selnaes, Jensen; Mikkelsen, Helland, Soderlund.
Both teams will be entering the game with 4-3-3 formations which should lead to an open game. Knowing that they both prefer attacking style and that Debreceni surely needs to get a positive result, it really would be surprise to see a closed and defensive game.
