Czech Republic showed completely different face in the second round when they defeated Serbian team with a 4:0 result, after previously losing out to Denmark with a 2:1 result. Despite a very positive performance in second round, nothing is granted for them yet and the team will have to search for all three points here in order to secure the semifinals ticket as all four nations stand their chances before the last round.
They took the lead against Serbs in seventh minute via Kliment and simply everything went on their side from the first moment, as the same player doubled up the lead in 21st. He made his hat trick in 56th, while three minutes later the result was sealed to a final 4:0 victory thanks to a goal from Frydek. After a disappointing defeat to Denmark in first round, which was maybe a harsh result for the hosts, they now improved the atmosphere completely and are awaiting the Germans in much more positive mood. Forward Vaclav Kadlec was forced off in the first halftime against Serbia and the player will be out for four weeks. Michal Travnik should be his replacement again.
Germany also improved image of themselves in the second round, as the team got the much needed victory, 3:0 against Denmark and now with four points, they are sitting at the top of the table and need a point in order to secure the semifinal ticket. However, playing for a draw away from home would be a risky deal and no doubt that the Germans will step up on the field in order to win.
Their victory over Denmark was completely deserved, as Kevin Volland opened the scoreline in 32nd minute, but also doubled up the lead in third minute of repetition. Ginter wrote 3:0 in 53rd, in a game where the Germans completely played up to desired level and deserved the victory fully. Similar to their opponents, they also improved the performance but the atmosphere as well, after only a 1:1 draw against Serbia in the first round. Christian Gunter returns from suspension after he got red carded in the first round, but Nico Schulz could retain his starting position after an impressive showing against Denmark. Emre Can had an injury in that game, but should be able to start here from the off. Coach Horst Hrubesch could name an unchanged squad, same as against the Danish.
Both teams are coming into this match with improved confidence, while a must win situation for Czechs will make this game very open. Germans also want to finish with a victory, while the quality difference shouldn’t be questionable. Open game, both teams to score and over 2.5 goals looks like the safest betting option here.
