Premiership action for me at Selhurst Park which will see Crystal Palace host an under pressure Hull City in a 15:00 kick off. Palace should win this game in my opinion and I think that odds of 2.10 (11/10) with William Hill are too good to turn down! Since Alan Pardew too charge at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace have been incredible! Their form of late has been great and the wins they’ve had have been well deserved!
I know that Palace head into the game on the back of a defeat against West Brom which they lost 2-0, however, I watched the game and think the scoreline was pretty harsh on Palace. They had 66% possession, they had 19 shots in total and 7 of these were on target, opposed to West Brom who had just 2 shots on target and scored both! One of the reasons I think West Brom won was the fact that Palace ex manager Tony Pulis was in charge and he was controversially sacked at Palace! The media commented that Pulis exploited the weaknesses within the Palace team and the tactics he picked worked well!
Before their loss to WBA, Palace had won 4 games in a row, 2 at home and 2 away, the games they won were not against easy opposition (QPR, Stoke City, Man City and Sunderland). Palace have scored 11 goals in their last 5 games, conceding just 6. They seem to be creating a lot of chances and I personally think a lot of that is down to the efforts of Glenn Murray, since his return to Palace I think it’s made Pardew change their style and it’s worked for the better! I know they have little to play for now, however, I don’t think Pardew is the type of manager to let his players relax. Also, I think if he can end the season in the top 10 then he will have done an amazing job! This will be used as motivation. Chamakh and Campbell I believe are still out and will miss the game.
Hull City on the other hand, they’ve been poor recently and find themselves just above the relegation zone (by just 1 goal), a lot of people are now tipping Hull to be relegated due to the recent form of Leicester City! Steve Bruce has done a decent job at Hull since taking over, however, I personally think his time at Hull is almost up! Hull head into this game having lost their last 3 games (Chelsea, Swansea and Southampton) and haven’t won in their last 6 games! To makes things worse, Hull City have won just twice away from home this season (QPR and Sunderland). Their problem is goals, they’ve scored just 2 away goals in their last 7 games! Diame is likely to miss the game along with Meyler (suspended) Robertson and Davies. Also, Bruce’s son Alex has a broken nose and might not be risked.
I know Hull will put up a fight in this game and it won’t be easy, however, I’ve been impressed with Palace lately and think they have a great, hardworking XI. I’ll be backing a Palace win @ 2.10 with William Hill. Good Luck all.
