After two consecutive defeats without a goal scored, Caen is now in a big trouble being only one point away from the relegating placed Toulouse and are in close to a must win situation for this game. In the most recent game, Caen got defeated with a narrow 1:0 score to Montpellier last weekend away from home.
Only goal was scored in fourth minute via Hilton and even though the visitors had plenty of time to respond, they never got to organize something more important in attack. Neither their previous game was a decent one, when the team got outplayed at home against Monaco in a 0:3 loss. Downtrend in form is obvious, while they neither can count at great home presence, with only five home victories so far in the season what puts them second from the bottom as home performers. Central defender Yrondu Musavu-King (6/1) won’t be included into the lineup as he is not fully fit, while the hosts also miss central back Felipe Saad (10/0) being injured. Doubtful is important midfielder Julien Feret (31/5) after being knocked out against Montpellier.
Guingamp, on the other side, is even in a worse shape than their current opponents, as the team didn’t win in last five matches in all competitions (four in Ligue 1), but still has two points more than relegating placed Toulouse. However, the situation is nowhere bright for them as well and the team needs to starts improving before it’s over.
After three consecutive defeats, team had a 1:1 draw at home against Evian last weekend. Truth to be told, they were much closer to get the victory and maybe the final result isn’t fair for them, but the visiting side also defended more than well, while the hosts lacked more energy in last quarter of the game to put some extra pressure on Evian’s defense. Captain and defensive midfielder Lionel Mathis (27/0) misses out through suspension and will be replaced by Sambou Yatabare. Right-back Lars Jacobsen (22/1) suffered injury last weekend and remains a doubt. Left back Dorian Leveque (22/1) is still injured, with right back Baissama Sankoh (11/0) being doubtful.
Open game is expected here as the game itself means much more than only three points. Additionally, neither of the teams will be playing to get a point only and I believe that few goals, but also both teams scoring are the proper choice here, with the home team remaining a bit closer to get all three points.
