Barclays Premier League action tonight in the MNF, the game will see the Gunners (Arsenal) host Swansea City in a 20:00 kick off (UK Time). For me I don’t see huge value in this game, anywhere! Arsenal head into the game as favorites and I think rightly so! They are currently sat in 3rd place in the league, just 3 points behind Man City (2 games in hand), whereas Swansea lie in 8th place…
So of course Arsenal will be favorites here, as expected. My issue is that Arsenal now know that they can’t win the league, I know their aim will be to finish in 2nd, which I suppose will be a good season all things considered. Also, let’s not forget that Arsenal have an FA Cup final to play vs Aston Villa, I think this game will also be harder than expected and I think Villa will be tough to beat.
Arsenal head into tonight’s game in great form, they’ve not lost in their last 10 games. The last time Arsenal lost was against local rivals Spurs back in February. So many people will be expecting a big Arsenal win here, for some reason I can’t see it. Arsenal are famous for flapping and letting things slip when they need to continue their form, it hurts me to say this as I do have a soft spot for Arsenal, I used to love watching them a few years back when they had a great team, a team worthy of winning the league. I can’t see them winning the league unless they make a few big signings next soon. Ramsey, Welbeck, Arteta, Chamberlain, Debucy and Diaby all out for the game. So a few injuries and this leaves Giroud and Sanchez with the pressure of getting the goals. I just think Arsenal might struggle here tonight.
Over the past few years Swansea have been a difficult team for Arsenal to beat, I think the last 2 fixtures between the 2 clubs have ended in favour of Swansea, winning one (2-1) and drawing the other (2-2). Manager Gary Monk has done a great job so far and this season has seen him and his Swansea players get their best ever Premier League points tally/position. Mathematically, Swansea can still get 7th place above Southampton so they do still have something to play for in my opinion.
Swansea have been very inconsistent this season, their away form especially, if you look at their last 9 away games it reads as W/L/W/L/W/L/W/L/W, they can perform at times and they can be difficult to break down. Ex Arsenal keep Fabianski has been in good form for them and I’m sure he will want to deny his ex-team mates tonight! Swansea have a few injury concerns of their own, Amat, Naughton, Carroll and Routledge are all out, however, striker Gomis may return tonight which will give the Swans good strength up-front.
I’m not saying that Arsenal won’t win, however, I think it will be harder than many expect, I can see Arsenal making a meal of this game and I think Swansea may make things difficult for the Gunners. I’ll be backing Swansea + 1.50 AH @ 2.08 with Bet365. Good Luck all.
