Argentina started of in a great fashion against Paraguayans, taking double lead thanks to two goals within seven minutes via Aguero and Messi (from a penalty spot) in first halftime, but the side made some mistakes in the second halftime and were punished severely with equalizing goal in 90th minute via Barrios, while Valdez firstly brought them back to life in 60th minute.
It seems that this competition is a bit cursed for Argentina, but this time the team’s motivation is big and no doubt that everyone wants to win the title in Chile now. They are under pressure as well, as their blow up the lead in the first match can be justified in that way. Argentinians generally looked impressive in preparation period with victories from Bolivia, Ecuador and El Salvador. Zabaleta will probably start on the right flank at the expense of Roncaglio, while Tevez and Higuain will probably have to wait for their chance again from the bench. Di Maria, Messi and Aguero should be leading their attack again.
Uruguay, on the other hand, got important 1:0 victory over Jamaica on Saturday evening, with the only goal being scored from Rodriguez in 52nd minute. The game itself was quite balanced with neither of the teams looked quite aggressive, but the Uruguyans were more conrete and in the end celebrated almost fully deservedly their victory.
They are title defenders at this year’s Copa America and have come here with big ambitions to Chile. Their goal is for sure to repeat the success from four years ago, even though they would surely be completely satisfied with a point in this game as well since they already won over Jamaica. The team didn’t lose a single game since the defeat at World Cup, which means for more than a one year now. They’ll have to do it without their best player Luis Suarez which surely narrows their chances, but at the same time team has already gotten used to it. Beside him, Caceres and Ramirez are also absent, while they’ll probably play here with Cavani upfront only.
Argentina is a favorite to win here, but that doesn’t mean they will win in style. On contrary, they might be even satisfied with a draw in some way, as they anyway await much easier encounter against Jamaica in the third round. Low number of goals is expected here, with Uruguayans having all the chances to walk away with a point, while in case of a defeat, it should only be a narrow one.
